Presidents/Chairmans match May 2004

As most of you are aware - but some of you not - this weekend, 1st May is the annual Bath Saracens President's v Chairman's game up at the club. This is one of the best days out of the year, with which we have many retired players having their annual run out, so please make every effort to come up and play, and have a few beers afterwards.

Please get back to me or Gee with your reply, even if you don't intend playing.

Many Thanks

Lee Garton

3.11.03 - Phil Cheese's adventure in Oz
Sarries,

Whilst I was in Oz last month I presented a club jersey and tie to representatives of the World Rugby Jersey Auction. We met in Sydney on Monday 3rd November. The following photo shows (L-R):

Ian Punter of Bletchley RFC who was also presenting a couple of jerseys.
Greg Bergan, the Chief Executive Officer of Spinal Cord Injuries Australia.
Me with the Sarries jersey.

Also present but not pictured was Michael G Le Couter, the WRJA appeal director.

Mike and Greg asked me to pass on the their sincere thanks for Sarries contribution to the appeal, and extended an open invitation for any Sarrie who happened to be passing by to visit Dubbo Rhinos and drop into the Western Star Hotel for a beer. Toor 05 anyone? Actually the beer is OK in New South Wales, Fosters is unheard of and apparently only Queenslanders drink 4X.

The WRJA was set up to support Wilson Te Whata, a Dubbo Rhinos player who suffered a serious injury in training in 1999 and is now a quadriplegic as a result. The appeal also supports the Spinal Cord Injuries Australia Charity. Full details are on their websites:

Our stuff hasn't made it onto the website yet. I expect that they are catching up with a backlog because of the world cup, quite a lot of new English stuff has gone on this week. I will let you know when our kit appears.

Ian Punter was touring Oz with his wife, and earlier in the trip had contributed to a cause almost as important as WRJA, by delivering three pairs of custom made boots to Matt Dawson.
